Tattoos and Forgiveness
I love the YouVersion Bible app! There are so many versions available on it and with so much at your fingertips, if you don’t understand a particular passage there are several others that you can read to provide clarity. Of course the Holy Spirit is always the best teacher. But look at all of the tools he has given us!
Last year, Jentezen Franklin wrote a book called “Love Like You’ve Never Been Hurt”. I highly recommend it! In the book he talks about different things that have gone on in his and his family’s lives, as well as the lives of other people he knows. He gives specifics scenarios of extreme hurts that have knock people on their bottom-end and turned their worlds upside down.
Our family has been through the fire in some of the things that have come our way, as I am sure your family has too. I bet you’re mind just raced to a detailed script, like a well played out movie, as I just mentioned that.
As the book hit the shelves, friends started posting that they had decided to get a simple tattoo of
70 x 7
as a reminder of Jesus instructions. In Matthew 18:22 Peter came to Jesus and asked him, “how many times do I need to forgive? Seven times?” Jesus answered and said, “no Peter, you need to forgive much more than that! More like 70 x 7 times!” (Paraphrase my own)
My girls had it in their hearts to do the same! Get a tattoo, so today they all got their first tattoo, as a constant reminder, that no matter how bad people may behave, annoy you, act unkind and unloving – LOVE THEM ANYWAY and FORGIVE, not for them, but for yourself!
