I don’t know if you saw my “Confessions” post yesterday, but I feel like I am in a scene like what I picture an AA meeting to be like.
“Hi, my name is Amanda. I am a 46yr old Mom and Mimi and I play video games (yes plural, but only sometimes is it more than just Disney Magic Kingdoms game) or maybe a the scene from the movie “Annie”, where the girls are singing, “It’s a hard-knock, life for me.”, but with a slight twist and the song is “it’s an arcade life for me”.
It started for me when I was a kid. We traveled a lot. When I say a lot, I mean like 52 weeks out of the year. If I am exaggerating, it isn’t by much. We lived in a travel trailer for much of my young life.
Before I go any further, I must make a disclaimer and say that some of the stories you will read, as time rolls on, I would NEVER, I repeat NEVER let my children do. My brother and I had a lot of freedom of roaming, but the world was not near as full as crazy things back then (and no I am NOT that old) were not like they are today. I am sure human trafficking existed. But it was EXTREMELY rare in the United States.
As I said, we traveled a lot and would stop overnight with our camper at truck stops. My mom and dad would give us a roll of quarters to split between the two of us and send us off into the arcade to have some time out of the car. Now that I am an adult, I realize it wasn’t just for our benefit. But nonetheless, my enjoyment of gaming continues today…..
Guess who was caught on camera?!
Another confession, yes thats me….. sidetracked, completely old-school! #NotAshamed
